GTA 5 is home to a colorful array of GTA 5 characters, including gangsters, corrupt officials, and bizarre random encounters. There are three playable characters in Grand Theft Auto V, with many more populating the world of Los Santos, many of whom you will meet, shoot, or need to find.

Who are the playable GTA 5 characters?
The three playable characters, which the player can freely switch between once enough progress has been made in the main story, are:
You’ll start the game via the GTA 5 prologue in which you take control of Michael De Santa during a failed heist which sets up the events of GTA 5. Past the prologue, you’ll take control of Franklin. Trevor doesn’t become playable until much later into the campaign.
Once a character has been unlocked, you can, generally, switch between characters so long as you aren’t in an active mission, or the story has a specific reason for locking a character out.
