Calm down, GTA 6 hasn’t been delayed… yet
Following a tweet that sparked rumors of a 2026 GTA 6 delay, developers have spoken out, and it’s time people stopped harassing the source.
Good news! A GTA 6 delay is NOT on the horizon, and the game is still due to arrive in Fall 2025. Unfortunately, the person who started the rumor is facing backlash from fans, and it’s genuinely undeserved.
Over the weekend, Twitter user @billsyliamgta (Liam) of GTABase posted that GTA 6 was “internally delayed” by the developer according to “multiple devs across two studios.” This immediately started a whirlwind of rumors that GTA 6 was being delayed to 2026, meaning a GTA 6 PC version wouldn’t arrive until 2027.
However, well-known insider Jason Schreier reached out to Rockstar and confirmed that there is no delay, internally or otherwise.
“Good news is that six Rockstar employees all told me they have not heard of any delay. Bad news: it’s a big, ambitious game and could very well slip! Too much time left to say anything definitive.”
In the wake of this revelation, Liam was quick to publish a retraction and apology, further stating that he has cut ties with those “employees” to whom he had spoken.
Unfortunately, it seems a lot of fans are unwilling to look past Liam’s mistake, with some even sending threats to Liam.
Threats are never acceptable, but neither is harassment of someone who has owned up publically to their mistake. It’s all the more ridiculous that Liam is being harassed considering GTA 6 could well be delayed to 2026 despite the publisher’s intentions for a 2025 launch.
So can we all calm down, give Liam some room, and just be thankful someone posting GTA 6 rumors is willing to own up to their mistakes?
