When will the GTA 6 Xbox edition be available? Fortunately, if you’ve marked your calendar with the latest GTA 6 release date, you already know when the Xbox console versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will be available.

However, what you may not yet be aware of is that GTA 6 PS5 gamers can already wishlist the game, but Xbox gamers, and by extension GTA 6 PC gamers, can’t.

When will GTA 6 be available on Xbox Series X|S?

GTA 6 is due to launch on consoles on May 26, 2026. This release comes several months after the originally intended launch window following the announcement of a GTA 6 delay.

Previously, it was expected that the game would become available within Fall 2025, but that all changed just one week prior to the second GTA 6 trailer when Rockstar Games announced the need to push the game back for extra development.

How much will GTA 6 cost on Xbox?

According to the latest estimates, the GTA 6 pre order for consoles and PCs will run somewhere in the region of $69.99. The actual GTA 6 price could, of course, be much higher depending on whether Rockstar releases any special or bonus versions of the game, Early Access, or even a Season Pass should DLC be in the works.

Will GTA 6 be available on Xbox One or older consoles?

Alas, the chances of GTA 6 being on Xbox One consoles are slim to none, and likely not because Take-Two Interactive wants to drive some console sales. Were that the case, we’d expect to see the game available on Game Pass. No, the most likely reason GTA 6 won’t be available on the Xbox One comes down to hardware.

If you’ve read our GTA 6 system requirements forecast, you’ll know that the game is due to require some fairly beefy hardware. Unfortunately, the hardware within the Xbox One is an entire generation behind what will likely be needed to get the game running smoothly.

Of course, Rockstar could, if they so wished, create an optimized port of the game, but it seems unlikely given the extra development time this would call for. Considering that GTA 5, which has been out for seemingly forever, has yet to receive a GTA 5 mobile port, we further believe that the Xbox One is going to miss out on Rockstar’s latest title.
