GTA 6 release date
The GTA 6 release date has finally been confirmed, though PC players may be waiting a while longer for a GTA VI launch.

After years of GTA 6 leaks, unofficial teasers and numerous Take-Two Interactive earnings calls, we finally have a confirmed GTA 6 release date. It’s a while away yet, and sadly comes after the announcement of a delay, but knowing when the sixth installment in Rockstar’s iconic series will arrive has us pretty excited.
For Windows 10 and 11 gamers, a GTA 6 PC launch might be much, much further away than they’d like, as Rockstar has not made any official announcement on when the game will make it to Windows OS systems.
When is the GTA 6 release date window?
The GTA 6 release date window is set for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 on Friday, May 26, 2026.
Despite numerous Take-Two Interactive earnings calls stating that the game was on track for a Fall 2025 release window, Rockstar announced on May 2, 2025 a GTA 6 delay. Rockstar stated that additional time was required to polish the game to a standard that fans would accept, creating a delay of almost six months (depending on when the original release date was meant to arrive).
This announcement completely debunks previous rumors such as the believed release on September 17, 2025 during which a retailer accidentally posted a release date for their GTA 6 pre orders, though they removed the date from their listing and issued an apology to fans in short order.
This delay to 2026 doesn’t spell well for a GTA 6 PC edition or Steam release. Fans hoping for a GTA 6 PS4 and Xbox One release may have even longer to wait than PC players, as it seems very unlikely that the game will ever be ported to the previous generation consoles based on GTA 6 system requirement estimates alone.
How expensive will GTA 6 be?
Given standard pricing for modern AAA games, even ones as large as Rockstar loves to create, we expect the GTA 6 price to be marked at around $69.99 (or £69.99 in the UK) for the standard edition when the release date rolls around. If there are special editions available on launch, they could be anything from $90-$200, depending on what’s included in the special edition offering.
When is the GTA 6 release date for PC?
Assuming that the game’s development goes according to plan and isn’t delayed a second time, we expect to see a GTA 6 PC release as soon as Q1 2027, a little over one year from the console’s anticipated release date. That said, the GTA 5 Enhanced edition bringing GTA+ membership to PC players and refining the online experience does hint that PC players are more integral to Take0-Two Interactive’s strategy moving forward.
A PC version certainly won’t be available at the game’s initial launch, but the wait time between consoles and PC could be the shortest we’ve seen yet for Rockstar ports. Should Rockstar Games provide a more accurate release schedule for both console and PC versions of GTA 6, you’ll be able to find all the latest release date updates here.
GTA release date list
Here is a full timeline of all GTA release dates, including the current GTA 6 launch date:
- GTA 6: May 26, 2026
- GTA 5: September 17, 2013
- GTA 4: April 29, 2008
- GTA San Andreas: October 26, 2004
- GTA Vice City: October 29, 2002
- GTA 3: October 23, 2001
- GTA 2: October 22, 1999
- GTA: November 28, 1997
As you can probably tell from the above schedule, GTA 6 and GTA 4 were quite unusual in terms of when they are/were due to be released. Considering the sheer scale of what we’re expecting to see when May rolls around, it isn’t too surprising that Rockstar’s latest game needed some extra time. Hopefully, there won’t be any further delays.
