GTA 6 requirements prediction
Prepare your PC for a few hardware upgrades with our GTA 6 requirements for PC estimates, including recommended specs from GTA 6 leaks.

Can you run GTA 6? The latest trailers aside, numerous GTA 6 leaks have already hinted at the GTA 6 system requirements, seemingly demonstrating what hardware the Rockstar devs have been using to test the game (assuming the leaks are genuine). Fortunately, those graphics cards, processors, and RAM levels are more than accessible to most gaming rigs, and mid-range laptops, though older machines might need an upgrade before the 2026 release date arrives.
Even if the leaks are false, GTA 6’s presence on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles strongly indicate what level of hardware will be needed for a GTA 6 PC version. Plus, the newly re-minted GTA 5 system requirements give an even better hint at what we can expect.
GTA 6 minimum requirements
Given the increased GTA 5 requirements, and the overall hardware equivalence of a PS5, plus what we’ve seen of supposed gameplay testing and leaks, we predict that the GTA 6 minimum requirements will require:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
- CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K
- RAM: 12GB
- HD space: 150GB
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card is a fairly standard modern GPU, even if it will already be six years old by the time GTA 6 launches. That said, we believe that Rockstar will keep their GTA 6 requirements low to avoid excluding a portion of the fanbase with older hardware. Fortunately, the recent GTA 5 Enhanced edition gives us a pretty good hint at what Rockstar believes modern gamers have, so our estimated specs only go a little above what you need for GTA 5.
If or rather when Rockstar revamps the GTA Online mode, we will likely see the replacement of the GTA 5 Online mode with a GTA 6 Online mode which will likely need the same requirements as above.
GTA 6 recommended specs
While the minimum GTA 6 PC requirements should get you up and running on the GTA 6 PC release, we expect the recommended level of hardware to be much higher. The original trailer painted a picture of a hardware-intensive game, with evidence of ray tracing, advanced hair physics, reflective surfaces, and crowd density. The GTA 6 trailer 2 went further, demonstrating exceptional graphics and… life-like body physics, shall we say.
Fortunately, we know that, no matter how impressive the graphics are, the game will still need to run well on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
So, your PC will need to have equivalent or better specs to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware to run GTA 6 as the devs intended. Based on the GTA 5 recommended spec jump from the minimum requirements, modern hardware advancements, and the PS5 Pro specs, we estimate that the GTA 6 recommended specs will require:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700
- RAM: 16GB
- HD space: 150GB
We already have a good idea on what graphics cards Rockstar might be using to playtest the game due to numerous GTA 6 leaks, which is why we believe GTA 6 will almost certainly run great on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. Ray tracing just so happens to run great on the RTX 3060 too, as you’ll find in just about any RTX 3060 review, making it all the more likely that this graphics card will be the one Rockstar recommends in the future.
GTA 6 ultra settings
Playing the game on the absolute highest graphics settings could be quite the demanding experience for your PC, and will likely demand some of the latest hardware to run well. This does, however, depend largely on how well Rockstar Games optimize the game for PC. As a result, we predict that the GTA 6 ultra requirements will require:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700
- RAM: 32GB
- SSD space (NVME): 150GB
This is, in many ways, complete overkill for a game that we believe will be very accessible to most gamers. However, full ray tracing and DLSS options will put a considerable demand on your PC if your GPU isn’t up to scratch. We found that GTA 5 runs consistently well on the highest settings with a GeForce GTX 1660 which released in 2019, four years after the PC launch of GTA 5. So, hopefully the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card from 2023 will run GTA 6 without issue and on the ultra graphics options.
GTA 6 size
Initial predictions put the GTA 6 download size for PC at around 150GB of SSD space, though some sources claim the overall GTA 6 size could go as high as 300GB.
With many games increasingly requiring an SSD as a storage solution, we believe that the GTA 6 system requirements will require an SSD, and further speculate that GTA 6 won’t be compatible with HDDs. So, if you need an upgrade, check the PCGamesN buyers guide for the best SSD for gaming.
The enhanced graphics, hair physics, dynamic lighting, and the density of crowds in both GTA 6 trailers guarantee that the GTA 6 specs will be significantly higher than GTA 5, so you might want to consider upgrading your gaming rig if it is already more than five years old.

There’s still a considerable amount of time before we reach the GTA 6 release date, so our predicted system requirements are subject to change, but our estimates do account for the expected increment in hardware requirements for 2026.
